As an artist, my mission is to find the intersection between arts and activism, using my theatrical platform as a tool for education, awareness, and political action.
I gravitate towards a theatre that gives voice to underrepresented communities. I respond most strongly to stylized theatre that uses the body as a carrier of form, content, and narrative. To me, a theatre that challenges our ideas of humanity, insisting we expand our worldview through empathizing with the characters presented, is the most exhilarating.
My background in ensemble work has led me to the discovery that a community atmosphere allows a freer, more creatively stimulating environment. The passion I have for directing emanates from a love of collaboration and need to tell stories and create something that is larger than myself. Through a contemporary performance praxis I have been able to integrate other forms of media into my work, creating a portfolio that reflects an interdisciplinary style of creation. I am perpetually curious about the relationship between the audience and performers and thus I aim to craft immersive, participatory, and/or site-specific pieces of theatre.
